Friendswood Texas is located just south of Houston and borders Pearland and League City. Clear Lake is nearby which is where the Johnson Space Center (NASA) is located. Galveston is just a 20 minute drive down I-45. Friendswood's population is over 34,000.

Friendswood consists of traditional values, excellent housing, low crime rate, and quality education, which continues to attract new families to the community. The city is situated among beautiful parks, natural trails, and a championship golf course. More than half of the city's residents are employed in executive, professional, and managerial positions.

The Friendswood School District is fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency, the district's curriculum emphasizes basic academic skills, higher academic thinking skills, and cooperative learning strategies. The district is dedicated to meeting the needs of students of all levels of ability. Technology is an integral part of the curriculum on all campuses. Each campus has self-contained computer labs and at least one portable wireless lab. Schools are fully networked and each classroom has computers available for teaching, research, and communication. Foreign language instruction in Spanish, French, and German is offered from sixth through twelfth grade, Latin classes in ninth through twelfth grades, with advanced independent study available. The high school is also involved in cooperative projects with local colleges in applied technology. FISD offers its students varied learning opportunities from robotics to the outdoor nature center with time lapsed photography to capture real world learning experiences. The District has high expectations for its students in both academics and extracurricular programs. Character Education is emphasized in all curriculum at all levels. The philosophy of the district is based on active partnership between parents, the community and the schools, and a commitment to the realization of each and every student's potential.

Friendswood High School houses grades 9-12. It was built in four phases, the first phase in 1970 with additions in 1973 and 1999.

It contains two major mall areas interconnected by two smaller hallways, with additional classrooms located in a fine arts annex building and science and math wing just off the main building. The high school site includes Henry Winston stadium, baseball field, softball field, soccer practice field, two gyms, the Walter D. Wilson Field House, an auditorium, and cafeteria. The new Science Wing, Fine Arts Wing, and additions to the athletic facilities were completed during the 1999-2000 school year. FHS has an enrollment of 1,800 students. FHS offers three degree plans and numerous advanced placement and honors courses as well as distinguished programs in fine arts, humanities, sciences, and mathematics. All UIL sanctioned varsity sports are available at FHS.

ACADEMICS: Friendswood High School was named one of the seven best high schools in the greater Houston area. The Mustangs won the AD State Championship for the fourteenth straight year with the second highest overall score for all classes in the state. The UIL Academic team repeated as the District 23 AAAA, Regional III AAAA Champions and won the overall State AAAA competition, scoring more points than any school in any classification. The Mustangs earned the title of State Champion as a team in spelling, and computer science. On the individual level the title was earned in science and computer science. Three students advanced to the State Science Fair. Two students advanced to Nationals in the National Forensic competition, and one student advanced to the National Shakespeare competition. The Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Classes set a high standard for TAKS when 96% (10th) and 99% (11th) passed English Language Arts; 97% (9th) passed Reading; 86% (9th), 84% (10th) and 96% (11th) passed Math; 97% (10th) and 100% (11th) passed Social Studies; 97% (10th) and 95% (11th) passed Science.
 
ATHLETICS: We had boys' and girls' cross country teams; boys' and girls' swim teams; team tennis; girls' soccer, boys' spring tennis, girls' track; the wrestling team and the gymnastics team represented at the State Meet. The girls' basketball team and the boys' soccer teams advanced to the regional finals. The girls' volleyball and the girls' softball advanced to regional semi finals and the boys' basketball team advanced to bi-district. The spring tennis team and boys' and girls' golf teams advance to regionals. Twenty-one varsity sports teams made the playoffs and advanced to various levels of the playoffs.
